Thanks for making the decision to join ACHS. We hope you find home schooling with ACHS a rewarding and spiritually enriching experience for your family.
Joining is a relatively straightforward process. Before doing so, please use the following preparation checklist to ensure you are ready to get started:
▢ Develop social networks to ensure your child is able to interact with people of various ages
▢ Establish an informal network of other home schooling parents with similar values
▢ Establish a family budget to ensure you can sustain a single-income household
▢ Learn about education, learning styles, curriculum, government registration, etc.
▢ Investigate the relevant state education authority registration process and ongoing requirements
▢ Establish a ‘learning space’ for your child – good lighting and ventilation are important
▢ Consider the impact on your family schedule, such as grocery shopping, housework, etc.
▢ Arrange filing system and other equipment necessary for you to be the ‘principal educator’
Now that you’ve ticked off the items on the checklist above, it’s time to decide which of our two membership levels is best for you:
- Basic Membership: is for parents who wish to pursue home schooling with very limited support from a professional home schooling organisation.
- Advanced Membership: is for parents who would appreciate academic support from qualified teachers with home schooling experience.
